Making a positive impact in our world and within our own community is important to the team at IMAVEX. Our annual golf outing, the Show Hope Golf Marathon, in the fall raises thousands of dollars each year for charities that work around the world. Many of our employees also give up some of their free time to volunteer in their churches and favorite non-profit organizations as well.
One of our team members, Steve Hill, is an SEM Account Manager and is currently working on a special fundraiser called Skate Across Indiana. This event is a 160 mile, 2-day skateboard ride across Central Indiana that Steve is doing on his own to benefit an organization called Christian World Outreach. He hopes that he can raise at least $2,000 for CWO’s HIV/AIDS education and prevention programs in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Pretty cool, huh?
Steve’s event was inspired by a documentary he saw called 10 MPH in which a couple of friends ride Segways across America. He had worked in Haiti with CWO in the past and wanted to put together a similar kind of adventure that benefited their work. If all goes according to plan, he’ll ride on June 8th and 9th from the Illinois state line all the way to Richmond, Indiana. It’s a long way, but we’re excited to see Steve succeed.
Steve says that if you’d like to help support Skate Across Indiana, you should visit his webpage, http://stevenahill.com/give. There’s a ton more information about the event as well as information about donating to the cause. He also encourages those who want to keep up on what’s going on with the event to check out his twitter accounts @SkateIndiana and @epiclysteve.
