INDIANAPOLIS, August 2, 2012 - Eurochannel today announced that it has partnered with imavex to expand its reach and enter the Internet TV space with the launch of Eurochannel.TV for Google TV and Android smartphones and tablets.
Eurochannel's new Google TV optimized application (available as a free download at Google Play) provides the same programming enjoyed by millions around the globe directly into the family room via the Internet (on devices such as Sony’s Internet Player and Vizio’s CoStar buddy box).
The same Android based application has also been optimized for Android based smartphones and tablets (including the new Google Nexus 7), so subscribers can take Eurochannel with them on the go.
"This is the future of television and with Eurochannel.TV our subscribers will have quick and immediate access to all of their favorite European movies, series, music and more," said Alexander Behrens, COO of Eurochannel. "In the very near future we plan to add exclusive content such as special presentations, events and pay-per-view shows."
The Google TV and Android optimized channel application features a fully interactive channel guide and search functionality. In addition to the standard channel currently available through satellite and cable tv providers, subscribers have access to a vast library of video-on-demand selections from all of Eurochannel’s programming categories, including EuroCinema, EuroSeries, EuroMusic, EuroMagazine and EuroTravel.
"We are excited about this new way to deliver our content,” added Gustavo Vainstein, President of Eurochannel. “Eurochannel will not only be available as a cable and satellite channel but also through this new option and will definitely complement our offering, especially those people who don't have easy access to cable or satellite subscriptions."
Eurochannel has partnered with imavex, a leading Internet TV channel developer based in the U.S. for Eurochannel.TV. "After meeting and discussing our needs with several providers it was clear that imavex was the right fit for us,” said Alexander Behrens. "They are truly experts in development and online marketing."
Eurochannel is using an award-winning video content management software developed by imavex called STREAMOTOR (www.streamotor.com) to manage, control, monetize and syndicate its content to Google TV and Android (as well as YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo and various other Smart-tv platforms to be released in the coming months).
"The Eurochannel application is a clear example of the future of television," said Steve Burzynski, president and founder of imavex. “The Google TV and Android optimized application was built with the viewer in mind; it’s truly robust and enriching; a great way to watch Eurochannel."
