Video in email increases open and click-thru rates, customer engagement, and can help you grow your email database.
Have you received an email with a video? If you haven't it probably won't be long until you do. Marketers are realizing that having video in email means that their subscribers are more likely to engage with the email by clicking through to the web-version to view the video. Think about it… you receive an email with all text and maybe a few images and probably a few links. Are you going to click on anything? Maybe, if one of the links peak your interest, or you accidentally click the mouse pad on your laptop while sipping on your caramel frappe and simultaneously reaching for your cell phone to check a text or facebook notification that just came through, or more realistically you decide to finally unsubscribe to save yourself a few seconds each week from having to automatically delete it. But what if you receive an email with a video… like this:

Where did your eye go? What did you want to do? Ah, yes, you wanted to click on the video. It's human nature. We'll skim an email with text and an image, maybe, but we'll almost always click on a video to watch it because we're curious, we like when the content comes to us, and we like to be entertained.
So, they clicked on the video in the email, what now? Here's where it gets fun. They are now in the browser version of the email where they can watch the video, view the rest of the content in the email without being distracted by the other hundred emails in their inbox, and most importantly they can share the video or the email via facebook, twitter, linkedin, or google+ where you've just now reached an entire new audience of people and potential subscribers that you previously did not have access to.
Video is not necessary to get your subscribers to click and engage with your email. There are many things you can do to help, but adding video to your email is the most effective way.
